146. Healthy Body, Healthy Soul

To serve G-d you need a healthy body as well as a healthy soul. How can you meditate, pray or study properly when the body's wellness is neglected?

Taking care of your body so that the soul can flourish is a divine service.

The
Dear rabbi: What would you add to the mental and emotional powers inherent to the soul to make the definition of soul possible?

Would it not a definition of the soul make it easier for the mind to use this concept as a very well designed instrument deviced specially for our healling powers?

Wouldn't you agree that our thoughts produce feelings?

Let's give it a try. Why would we need much more than that?"I" invite you to simplify the definition to make it easier to use the soul in all our undertakings.

Why would G-d present us with a soul if we cannot use it to better (improve)our well being?

The I
Dear Rabbi: Could we say that the "I" in I have a body is that part of G-d planted inside our body?
If you accept my previous statement could I say that the "I" is the soul? planted inside my body? and since that current of air came from inside A'shem then the soul is the"I" in "I have a body" and is permanently connected with G-d.
Could the soul be definned by the previous statements?

Re: Definition of soul
Leon, I don't know that you can call that a "definition." Indeed, it is more difficult to define the soul than it is to define "love" or "happiness."

Although I cannot define it, I can point to it: When you say, "I have a body," who is the "I"? Obviously, not the body. So your language (and its implied perception) points to a soul.

That soul has intellectual and emotional powers. These, however, do not define the soul. The soul is much more than this.

Definition of soul
Tzvi:
Do you agree with this definition:

Animal Soul and Divine Soul.
The soul manifests through his powers.
Intelectual powers: Three called Chabad.
Emotional powers: Are seven from Chessed to Malchut.

Would this definition be accepted by a majority of those adherents of Lubavich origin?

Kindly correct me.

healthy body
when your body is sick with illness, the last thing we think of is how to heal ourselves! the mind and spirit is a powerfull tool in our bodies. we may not think anything helps us. but, we have been given power to change our way of coping with our illness. whether physical or mental. the power of prayer can change our attitude on our problems. g-d helps those who help themselves.

Healthy Body
The lack of health of my body has not been my choice. The logic does not follow that I am unable to serve G-d; neither that I can meditate, pray or study. I am able to do all of those. It is harder when the pain associated with my condition makes concentrating more difficult. I did not become ill due to my own neglect.

energy for the soul
Taking care of one's body will result in taking care of the soul...whick enables the soul to connect to the power of the Ruach ha Kodesh (Holy Spirit).
