58. The Metaphor

Everything we see about us is but a reflection of that which is above.

A king in our world reflects dominion above.

The sweetness of a fruit reflects the sweetness of the wisdom above.

The form of the human body reflects the inner structure of the cosmos, so that each limb and organ parallels a particular Divine force.

Each of these things descends from its G‑dly place into our material realm to take tangible form—so that we can grasp those G‑dly concepts from which they extend.

Even those inventions that only arose in the modern era were hidden all this time within the Creation, waiting for us to discover them and reconnect them with their G‑dly source and meaning.

Metaphor
What is the metaphor for those things we call dark ... like war, like the holocaust, like dis-ease, like famine. Why do we look at those things and struggle to find G-d there. If G-d is in all places, then is he not there too?

We have no trouble coming up with poetic descriptions connecting G-d to sunsets, and marriage and birth and prosperity ... all those things that we've judged to be good.

What if we try to see G-d in ALL places. Ok ... I'll start. If I look really closely, I can see Him in pain. I see G-d in pain in this way ... I've been running from him. He's been reaching out to me in so many ways but I did not notice - I was too self absorbed. Pain draws my attention in a very focused and very powerful way. Can anything or anyone else get my attention in this way? What's amazing is if I am able to truly see Him in the pain, the suffering stops.

YES!
The Metaphor is really what it is all about. I was just telling everybody that the brain seems to be a metaphor for some kind of intelligence that is outside of us, And true enough it follows the Tree of Life in organization. Is the Tree of Life a metaphor of the brain or is the brain the metaphor for the Tree of Life.

It's all coming together. Science, myth, and faith seem to be converging and agreeing.

I deeply feel grateful for the immense wisdom you share. It reaches me in a very deep place in my heart and I wish I could share it. But not very people can grasp this wisdom and how true it is in various levels it sometimes makes me cry.

The world as metaphor
Profoundly meaningful to me, this explanation feels so true to my heart. It reminds me of the "forms" from the cave in Plato.
