 | It would have made most sense for Sandra Samuel to get out of there as quickly as possible. But she didn't. She couldn't. Little Moshe'le was calling her name...

Dear Sara Esther,
Thanks for your post and hope. How sad that it was this event leading me to your articles once more. All the best and maybe see you again in The Hague or anywhere else. A lot of strength, positive thoughts and faith - that's the only thing that will keep this world going.
thank you Sara Esther...very touching and powerfully writen..

Sandra Samuel is a true hero. No one knows if they could meet the test, putting their life on the line to save another, until the momment occurs. It makes one tremble with fear to think about it, but Sandra did it, G-d bless her. I am very happy to hear that Moshe's grandparents are working to get Sandra a visa. I thought he would need this blessed woman whom he knows and loves to help him.
Yes Sandra is a true hero. G-d bless her for her actions. I pray that Moshe will be as kind and loving as his parents. When I heard about the Rabbi and Rivkah's deaths my heart hurt, literally. I did not know either of them personally but I felt such emotional pain and physical discomfort. I was stunned and could not fully grasp what had happened to them. I so hoped they, and the others at Chabad, were spared, but that was not to be. I think of them much of the time, allow myself the pain of grief and let it flow from me. G-d bless little Moshe and his grandparents and I pray Moshe's sibling will get well very soon. They are in my prayers. Thank you Sandra for your heroic act of saving Moshe.
Thank you so much for this article. We need to thank G-d for this miracle. G-d bless Sandra Samuels.
Dear Esther,
Thank you. Let us not forget this woman, Sandra Samuel, little Moshe's nanny, who is a hero, a righteous gentile who showed all her "greatness" in the likeness of G*d. May she know the gratitude that we and HaShem have for her. Somehow, as with this story, we will find comfort and light as we heal from this greatest tragedy.
I am in utter and complete awe of what this woman did for 2 year old Moshe. If only I knew of a way to tell her, and praise her act of self sacrifice to save someone elses child!!! I'ts absoutely amazing that Hashem spared his life in such an obviously miraculous way. She will surely be repaid for her selfless kindness!
I am pleased to see that someone finally wrote an article specifically about Ms. Samuel. I had written about her in comments on a few news/newspaper sites in the hopes that at some point, probably when things settled a bit, that this courageous woman would be recognized directly for her acts. She had the presence of mind to think of Moshe and then risked her own life to get him out. Most would not have done that much.
Please convey our deepest appreciation to a remarkable women, Sandra Samuel
I searched the web for this story. It has been on my mind for days -- wondering who this brave woman was who saved this precious baby. Now I know. Thank you for sharing this story.
I was unaware, and did not hear anywhere else of another child. ( I did hear that there was a child that passed away), but nothing about another sick child living with the grandparents! I hope this is so! I am ecstatic for Moshe to have an older brother. I hope and pray Hashem should heal him and they will both have one another. The children of such incredible parents deserve at least this much!
May God bless U, Sandra Samuel.
if not with is parents then where? and why was he found right next to them, covered by their blood if he was not with them when they were killed? But Sandra Samuel got to him, took him, saved him, and today little Moishe is safe and alive because of her. Let us hope that Sandra will get her visa to come to Israel, so that Moishe will at least have her by his side as he reoovers from that horrible ordeal. And let his family reach out to her with all that they can in gratitude and love.
Sandra Samuel- is a hero-I will not forget the victums.
From a more recent news report, Sandra clarified that Moshe was indeed in bed for the night. It was not until the next morning around 11 am that Sandra heard Moshe'le screaming her name. When she ran upstairs and found him, he was alongside the bodies of his parents. It now appears that Sandra will be flying with Moshe to Israel on Monday and will be granted the status of a righteous gentile and a visa to remain in Israel to help care for him.
thank you so much Sara Crispe for that clarification. it eases my heart to know that Sandra will be with little Moishe and that she will be able to stay in Israel with him and his family. She is indeed a Righteous Gentile. Somehow Moishe's parents knew that she would be there for him when he needed her which is why they choose her. Let us think that Rivka, G-d rest her soul, knew that in her final moments; she chose wisely and her child was safe. Let us hope that thought eased her passing, however horrible it was. I hold them all in my heart, my thoughts and my prayers.
This woman should not have difficulties getting a visa. She should be honored for saving a life at great risk. We should all do whatever we can to help her. The Rebbe always said the response to evil was a mitzvah. She did one and so should we.
While I was reading this beautiful article I was reminded of the Torah portion where Moshe Rabbeinu (Moses) is floating on the river in the basket and his sister Miriam runs alongside the riverbank in an effort to determine what will become of the baby... and then...Batya, daughter of Paroah, whom the Torah tells us was going to the river for the purposes of converting to Judiasm, at that moment spotted the basket and reached out her arm to retrieve it. It was too far away, however, and so G-d made a miracle and extended her arm out to save the child. Here too-- baby Moishe called out to be saved and from 3 stories or more away the non-Jewish nanny heard his cry and risked her life to TRY to save him. Here too, G-d heard Moishe's cries and saved him. Just as then it was the beginning of the process of geulah (redemption) of the Jewish people, may this story be the segway for the Jewish people of today to enter into the time of Moshiach!
It must be remembered that when bloodied clothing is found after someone has been murdered, the clothing must be buried. DNA reveals whose blood it is. With whom will the baby's bloodied clothing be buried? Like the bride who was murdered, her wedding dress stained with blood, the many who have died for Kiddush Hashem (sanctifying G-d's name), the blood of the martyrs cries out to be revenged.
wow. this is all so disturbing and yet we're going to hear and read stories of heroes from among those who probably didn't realize they were or would be or even could be, but as you eloquently pointed out - evil brings about opportunities for greatness and beauty. may we all learn from these tragedies and the acts of beauty and greatness that lie in their midst.
Only a mother can write the way Sara Crispe did. Thank you!
I knew as I watched Sky News about Naiman House a tradegy was happening I could not believe a woman managed to get out of all this with a baby alive now we know what a wonderful woman she is lets hope she can join the baby in Israel if she wants to.. Most of all my prayers are for Rivka and Gavriel and that their families will in time come to terms with what has happened to good people
Am a fellow journalist based in Mumbai. We are helpless as usual with this sudden turn of event here. And all that we can use is our ‘pen’ as our weapon to express ourselves. And hats off to Sara Esther Crispe for this wonderful, inspirational piece on Sandra. She’s a true angel and it’s only for people like her the world is a better place to live.
Sandra Samuel is a living proof that human solidarity knows no racial nor religious bounds. I have heard that the International Raoul Wallenberg Foundation, a blessed NY-based ONG whose mission is to keep alive the legacy of the rescuers of Jews during the Holocaust, has resolved to award a medal to this modern times heroine. She truly deserves it. The Wallenberg Foundation is also calling upon parents to name their newborn baby girls after Sandra. The attack on Mumbai has showed us the ugly face of fanatism and hatred but has also shown the beautiful face of Sandra Samuel, a corageous and compassionate woman.
An Indian National Security Guardsman gave his life at the Chabad House in Mumbai. Gajendra Singh was a true hero. Prayers for his soul
Yes Sandra is a true hero. We are so proud of what she has done .
there are no words - it is just now hitting me. words don't do justice to what happened. words minimize the horror. better to be silent.
Talmud, Sanhedrin 37a states: "FOR THIS REASON WAS A MAN CREATED ALONE, TO TEACH THEE THAT WHOSOEVER DESTROYS A SINGLE SOUL... SCRIPTURE IMPUTES (GUILT) TO HIM AS THOUGH HE HAD DESTROYED A COMPLETE WORLD; AND WHOSOEVER PRESERVES A SINGLE SOUL..., SCRIPTURE ASCRIBES (MERIT) TO HIM AS THOUGH HE HAD PRESERVED A COMPLETE WORLD...
It is a relief to know that Ms. Samuel will be coming to Israel!!
Thank you, Sara, for bringing us a story of good out of all this hatred and violence. Sandra is indeed a hero and a brave Jew like others that lost their lives.
May Sandra be blessed for ever and ever. I can;t stop thinking about her and how she saved Moishe, my prayers go to her, may she and her family be blessed with everything. i have a three year old cousin that looks just like Moishe, I can;t help but think that that could've been him, G-d forbid, thank you Sandra for your existence!
There are so many wonderful stories about Sandra all over the internet. Is there any way to get a bunch of them and present them to the grandparents to give to Sandra? Do you think this would be a good thing to do?
Just so proud of Sandra. My heart goes for Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and his wife Rivka. Just can't imagine how these cowards (terrorists) could be so cruel for people like Holtzberg who cared for other human beings. May god bless Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and his wife Rivka.
Chaya, I think it's a wonderful idea. I really hope it can be done. Dearest Sandra, I hope you are aware that when you saved little Moshe, you bestowed the greatest gift not just upon the Holtzbergs, but upon the entire Jewish people. We all, friends and strangers alike, feel the immense loss of Gabi and Rivky, and you have given us immeasurable comfort in bringing their child to safety. I'm sure you've already learned that in Judaism, if someone saves one life, it is as if he has saved the whole world. Sandra, I am jealous of the merit you have earned, and wish you the very, very best. We are forever grateful.
I did not know what a Chabad House is - until now. What a tragic way of knowing about a noble tradition of hospitality in a far away land. As an Indian American, I am aggrieved by the cowardly acts of some nasty people who committed these heinous murders in the name of their so called religion. Their's is a religion of hatred and intolerance, of jealousy and putrid acromony. Today we grieve together, Indians, Israelis, Americans and others whose innocent citizens had to pay a heavy price for belonging to free societies and free countries. I used to be neutral and politically correct in my views about Israel. Not any more. Today I am an ardent supported of Israel. I hope that America, Israel and India come together to stand against this common enemy. India should invite Israeli security experts with open arms to build robust defenses against terrorism. We should also take a leaf from your example and strike at the heart of their terror training camps in terrorist lands

He said commando Havaldar Gajendra Singh was killed in the gunbattle at Nariman House, also known as Chabad House, in Colaba.
"Gajendra Singh came in the line of fire. He received bullet injuries, but did not retreat. He continued going forward, and made the supreme sacrifice," Dutt said.
The commandos had to tread carefully as they had to ensure that the hostages being held by the terrorists as well as the civilians living in the populated area were not injured.
While going to the second floor, the commandos found three bodies there. "They realised that they had been killed by the terrorists much earlier."
Then a hiding terrorist lobbed a grenade at the NSG, but the commandos continued to go forward. On the fourth floor, they killed the two terrorists and found two more bodies. "They were victims of the terrorists," Dutt said.
I read today that the Holtzbergs lost one child previously to Tay Saks and that there is another child who is also suffering from this terrible disease. They had had their share of suffering. Little Moishe seems to be clear of it. Maybe there is a special purpose to his life and obviously there was a special purpose to Sandra Samuel's life. Let us all send Moishe and Sandra our special prayers and blessings for their well being.
that was a good article. Thanks
Sandra -you are an angel sent from God. The selfless acts you did to save little Moishe was just unbelievable and so courageous. God will bless you for the rest of your days for your good heart and soul.
What's interesting is that as much as Sandra saved Moshe, he saved her too. She was hiding for dear life and when she heard him she ran to grab him and of course she couldn't stay with him without being caught, so that sort of forced her to run out of the building with Hashem's help. Who knows if she would be alive if not for the baby she ran to save?
i can only say, my heart is breaking, i cry for this great loss. i am also angry, where is Hashem, please G-d cannot you do something for your people? i feel helpless. i can only weep with frustration.
Please G-d help!! stella c.
I, too, am heartbroken by the barbaric acts of terrorism towards the innocent Holzberg family . Yes, Sandra is an angel from heaven. It was her selfless act of bravery in the face of her personal jeopardy that should be heralded. Without her , little Moishe would have probably perished ..just like his beloved parents. My heart is breaking for him, at the age of 2 to not only lose both his parents but to perhaps have witnessed their slaughter. That Moishe survived is a miracle. May his life serve as a sweet remembrance of his loving parents -- And may Sandra Samuels , the nanny , be blessed with all the recognation she deserves for risking her life to save this precious little Jewish boy. I am praying for the family of the deceased .
Sara, the biblical Moshe was also rescued by a G-d fearing woman, a princess of the Egyptian royal house. Its a reminder decency and g-dliness is found where we least expect it. Sandra Samuel is like the biblical Ruth. She has become part of the Jewish people. The circumstances of her birth matter less than what she did. And for her saving Moshe, we will always express the most profound of gratitude!
Well..I am an Indian from the Southern part of India...We are so sad and angry for what had happened to the Rabbi and his wife...For Indians like us guests are like god ....well..we are now mute spectators for what has happened in the last one week..We have lost too many innocent lives including brave soldiers, common people and guests who have loved India....We are peace loving people....maybe thats the reason we are being targeted by the ruthless fanatics...our heart goes out for the little Moshe who may be orphaned as far as the world is concerned.....but please tell him when he grows up...There are more than a billion people who love him in India...
without shadow of doubt, sandra's selfless act reflects on the selflessness of the shluchim; rivky and gavriel. she cared about their child because she saw how special and selflessly they acted, and how important their work was. wow.
Hindus are 1bn strong and an ally waiting to be embraised by the Jews and Israel. Indian Jews have never faced anti-Semitism, they have never been persecuted in India. India and Israel have excellent relations which should grow to as strong as possible.
Hindus and Jews face a very similar problem in our home country and abroad. We are shockingly similar are a modern culture in the US where I grew up. We are extremely successful and very well educated yet tied to our community and motherland which is under threat of a single enemy.
Sara Thanks for your article that moved my heart so much. I had seen Sandra holding little Moishe on Indian TV Channels live. The picture of Sandra holding little Moishe in her arms will always remain in my mind forever. I wept bitterly. G-d saved him through an Angel Sandra. My prayers are with Little Moishe,Sandra and his grandparents.
im really happy for sandra aunty since im sure she has earned a reward in heaven for her deeds sandra aunty hats off to you we are really proud of u you have proved that you have a heart of gold
our heart is crying but for thye sake of moshe we can live with out you pls take care
Thank you so much Sara Esther for your touching article. I have been thinking so much about the heroic acts of Sandra Samuel and it has been on my mind for quite some time. You've expressed the words in my heart.
For these heroic acts and deeds Sandra Samuel has done, I hope that Israel will grant her citizenship to stay with little Moishe'le. (If this what she wants to do.) She is truly a hero for all of us in these dark hours. Thank you Sara for a wonderful article. G-d bless Sandra, Moishe'le, and his grandparents.
It's so difficult to understand the evil in this world. But, thank you God for the beautiful people who have blessed us and for the heroism of people like Sandra. May the families, and especially the children be blessed with only sweetness and healing. Much love is going out to them all.
I have read so much concerning this tragedy that I seriously doubted I could stand to read even one more word but I kept reading because Moshe is always on my mind. It is good to read that his beloved nanny will be back with him soon. This article was such a comfort to read.
We have a local Chabad House here and the Rabbi and his wife are such gentle, loving, caring souls. I cannot imagine such cowardess and evil. Thank G-d this baby has survived, his extended family will take much comfort from having him with the, they have all been through too much.
G-d grant them peace.
Shalom, I agree with all I am that she should be granted citizenship in Israel. May G-d remember her deed and write an eternal memorial for her for all time. Sandra- I wish I could contact you personally to tell you how proud we all are of you. Blessings, Grace, and Shalom to you now and in the world to come!
According to an article Ms. Samuel took Moshe and left with him, but there was also a young man who stood in an open area to divert any attention that may be given to them. He also put his life on the line for this baby as well as his nanny. It would be nice if he also received some positive attention.
A moving tribute to the rabbi and his wife and a very simple woman, a servant. In the midst of such horror as the killings, as the author says, light still shines. May we all be inspired by such acts of such simple people.
The rabbi at the hozbergs funeral said that the baby was now a child of Israel. Sandra too, should be not only a citizen if she wishes to be, but the recipient of an award. Obviously, she didn't do what she did for any reward, it was an act of complete selflessness and heroism. But still, this woman deserves a new blessing in her life. How do we Israelis contribute to the Sandra Samuel reward?
Sandra Samuels is the absolute example of a person who truly demonstrated love. The fact that this child's name is Moshe is not a coincidence. By this Righteous Gentiles self-less act, she saved many , many generations of Jews. May G-d bless her all the days of her life. May Moshe Holtzberg be a shining star in Israel.
We all owe this dear dear lady an enduring gratitude - I thank you Sandra, and I will never forget your love and your courage. I will pray for you and Moshe.
May we be forever grateful for the heroic efforts of Sandra and the other Indian commandos who risked their lives. Gajendra Singh paid the ultimate sacrifice in attempting to overcome the terrorists at Nariman House.
These are role models for all of us.
I cannot read about this story with out crying every time. I pray that my son will be as well cared for in a time of need as Moshe was by Sandra. She is an angel.
I hope that this gives Rivka Holtzberg some peace.
Zichrona Livracha, may her memory be a blessing.
Tears fall each time I see Moshe and each time I read about the heroic and unselfish act od Sandra. Isreal has a new son and in sandra, sombody to care for him. My deepest condolence and hope sometime soon world will be a better place to live in and that we live as human beings in one planet taking care of each other.
Sandra saved Moshe and she was helped by another employee Zaki Hussein, he might not have been as brave as Sandra but in the end he helped her flee with the child. As you can see by his name, he is more than likely a Muslim, in doing what he has done, he has probably endangered himself but then he is probably a father himself, and by the sound of it, a good one, because he too could have run away. I am not a religious person, when you walk between two faiths like I do, I have a Hindu father and a mother of Jewish descent you tend to be a bit jaded but in this case I will thank the Gods of my father and the G-d of my mother that in this world there are good and comppassionate people like Sandra Samuel and Zaki Hussein who saw risked everything to save a little boy who was not of their faith.
I agree with you completely about this man. I had mentioned him in an earlier comment myself and feel that he should also be recognized personally for his brave actions.
long live Moshe . love and affection of entire humanity is with him. god bless him.
This article really brings home the fact that the Almighty's hand was protecting this child. Sandra Samuel was used by G-d to save little Moshe from the will of the terrorists. May the G-d bless her and her family in a mighty way!
i have seen and experienced many tragic scenes, but what happened to baby moshe broke my heart . while i watched him on tv i wept bitterly . while i write i cant stop crying . i have never been affected by a scene and a story like that of baby moshe in my entire life.my eyes are clouded and i cant write any more . i will always pray for him for his memory is imprinted in my mind , my heart cries for him .i dont know why
My heart goes out to litte Moshe, orphaned by the terrorists. Since the day I saw on TV that his parents were brutally killed, I have been praying for him. I hope he is showered with so much love by his family that he is never short of it. His nanny was sent in the form of an angel to save him. Love you Moshe. Be blessed and loved always. These are the heartfelt blessings of a grandmother of 2 grandsons just like darling Moshe. I would be too happy to receive any news about him.
Words elude me, my heart aches and tears start to flow freely when I see sweet Moshe's innocent face. How I wish I could do some thing for him and play a part in his future growth. How I wish I could turn back the clock and change things but alas while Moshe's parents cannot be returned to him, I'm sure he will receive lot's of love from his grand parents, his nanny and indeed the whole of the great nation of Isreal. I pray God takes care of this destiny's child and he grows to achieve great heights in life and is able to overcome this terrible trauma at such a tender age. He will always be in my heart.
Nice article. Sandra Samuel is a Christian woman. She shows the love of Christianity. I bless the Israel nation and Jews people.
I really appreciate she is a real hero. I couldn't forget that incident and that little boy Moshe. We (Christians) are the gentile of Abraham by faith.
God Bless them both Moshe and Sandra Samuel.
Little baby Moshe my heart goes out for you you. My sincere prayers for you - MAY GOD BLESS YOU How i wish i could atleast once take you in my arm and shower you with love. May God bless you and Sandra
From what i understand after reading many articles and hearing from somoene who evidently knows of the family.....there was another child who passed away from a genetic disease and yet another who has that same genetic disease who was living in Israel at the time of the murders...Moshe is, evidently the only one of the 3 children who as of now doesnt have that genetic disease.
Hello people, can anyone confirm that she is a christian & if so who or what is your source? Thnks & God Bless
It is just and fitting that the government of Israel treat Sandra Samuel as one of their heroins. She should be allowed to share in the blessings of raising Moshe. Her efforts were invaluable in the rescue of this innocent victim of the violence of terrorism. Israel deserves such a person to be among them. I'm not a religious person myself but realize the efforts of those who are of such faith. I appreciate her dedication to the family of Moshe and hope she finds a home in Israel.
Sandra Samuel is a women of The Most High G-d and G-d has a wonderful purpose for Moshe. It has been revealed!
When i tried to put myself in Sandra' situation, i am amazed on how she showed courage in taking the child out of the disatrous situation risking her own life. She displayed that her faith and her actions were probably based on her faith in God who helped her out of the situation. It has certainly helped in strengthening my faith in God and in HIS ability to respond to Faith.
God bless Sandra and the Jewish people.
Sandra should be able to go to Israel. However, I fear that is not the safest place for anyone to be right now. I hope that Moshe and his family stay safe and that Sandra is able to be reunited with him safely. She is quite a lady considering she was probably in less danger not taking the baby. Babies cry and he looks different from her so she was risking a lot. G-d bless you Sandra and Moshe. In my opinion our president should grant the Holzbergs and Sandra safe passage in the U.S. We would love to have them here.
Yes, I agree with Amy. I too feel that Sandra and Moshe would be better off living in the U.S. and getting to migrate there should not really be any problem for them. However what about Sandra's own children. She cannot abandon them so I feel that Sandra's entire family should also be considered for migration. Certainly Moshe has been under a traumatic situation in Mumbai and now to continue hearing the sounds of rockets falling all around worn torn Isreal would not be good for him at all. My prayers are always with them and the brave people of Isreal.
As far as I know she is still in Israel in a town in the north. She is safe and being taken care of. She is now needed more than ever now that Moshe's brother died from a genetic disease. May G-d look over Moshe.
I'm glad to hear she is in a safer part of Israel. Deepak is right. I wasn't aware that she had a family in Mombai. But I'm glad whatever her situation that for the time being Chaya says she is safe with Moshe. I will continue to pray that the war stops in the Middle East. I hope that if they choose to come to the U.S. that they will have an easy time doing so.
I think i has to be up to Sandra to determine where she wants to live and when. She deserves the right to make that choice, whether it be India, Israel or the U.s. And yes, she certainly should be allowed to take her family wherever she goes. If she does come to the U.S. (and I don't think Moishele's family is going to let him come with her...they need to raise him), she certainly won't have a problem finding another position as a nanny. Who wouldn't want her with her bravery and her heart? This had to have been a harrowing experience for her and she is most likely still reeling from it. Whatever it is she wants to do, I hope she will be allowed to do it.
The bond between the Sandra and Moshe is divine, set by god himself. It pains me to even think how difficult it will be for both of them when it would be time for Sandra to come to India. After Rivka's unfortunate demise, Sandra is like his second mother, and mother she is - she has given him the gift of a new life from near certain death. I really hope and pray that the two don't ever get separated.
sandra you are such a heroine. stay with moshe'le forever! don't leave him...
Does anyone know if Sandra is still with the family in Afula?
Can we please not predict a negative future for Moishele or for any Jew? Can we not talk about the pain and loss he will feel as he grows older? Our words have tremendous power (think of the Baal Shem Tov story and the man who said he would tear another "like a fish") and we must strive to create a beautiful life for him, not only with our actions, but with our words as well. Moishele WILL celebrate his birthdays with his parents, he WILL walk with them to the chuppah-we WILL greet Moshiach in his lifetime, and may that take place IMMEDIATELY!
after a year, it is really a motivating to recall that sad incidents taking lives of innocent peoples. i really believe god will really give them standardised punishments here and in the hereafter and encouragements and energy to all innocent to grow as brave people
G-d bless Moshe and Sandra, may Sandra do Aliyah as soon as possible. G-d bless His martyrs and their families.
G-d always has a plan. I believe that G-d is trying to share something with us. As a Jew what I can understand about the attacks in Mumbai were people from Esav not Yakov as this week parsha Yitzchok is giving the blessings to his children. Therefore, the Holtzberg were like Yaakov and Rivkah. They treat Sandra very kind and sweet so she develops love, respect towards them. I believe that we need to work harder to be as our ancestors (Yaakov and Rivkah) so Esav and all his generations will not have the opportunities to hurts us anymore. After the attacks happen I said Tehilim for little Moshe, I pray to G-d to help him to forget all those imagines and to turn just them in beautiful ones. After the attacks I been working harder toward became a better person. Give a lot of love and respect to my husband. I have tried to teach my own daughters to be better Jewish women and learn to accept their choices even thou they are not what I believe. I have learned very slowly to turn it
Thank you for your kind comments, Dr. Aftab! I had to look twice at your name and where you are from! Pakistan!!
As someone who calls herself a Noahide, much inspired and cherrished by the light that illuminates through the teachings of Chabad and all the wonderful people who make Torah education possible, as someone who has seen the young Rabbis in Inda, who look like angels, so pious, so selfless, so dedicated to G-d, it is so very hard for me even to try to speak about how wonded I feel from within with this unbelievable tragedy, and how grateful to G-d I am that Sandra was there at least to save baby Moishe from the savage devils in Mumbai. May G-d Keep both of them safe and sound, may Hashem keep Moishe's grandparents living for so long, compensating for this big loss of losing such beautiful parents. Am Ysrael Chai Leolam.
Today, in our Chabad class, we learned that this day, November 18 - 1 Kislev, is the yartzeit of the murder of Moishe's parents, the Holzbergs, as well as his third birthday. I read at the end of the article that Sandra is with him in Israel, living with his grandparents. Bless them all! I understand that his older brother has passed away. he is the only survivor of his immediate family. But he has this wonderful nanny and his loving grandparents. His life will go on and he is blessed to be loved and cared for. Stay well little Moishele.
Son of brave hearts. He will definitely become a lion king.
I wish lilttle Moshe alllllllllllllllll the luv and great luck ahead. I am falling short of words to express what I feel.....There is sense of deep burning anger...Its time that God steps in to stop TERRORISM...I cant see people losing their lives at the hands of extremely coward, mentally sick fanatics! In the entire Mumbai caranage of November 2008, it was Moshe's miraculous survival that leaves all of us with a sense of hope...may be it was God's way of telling us that in the end only Goodness will prevail...I wish , in my country India, people who are in charge of bringing the real culprits to books, atlleast show sone honesty...I feel thats the least that we could do to get justice for Rabbi and Rvika's...If prayers work...we will hear no TERRORISM any more! Let us all unite in praying for a terror free world......
If we think we have it bad, think of what this little guy had to deal with in his first year of life! Moishele is in my heart and my prayers!
please g-d bless moshe holtzberg... this make you think about moses and the daughter of pharoah. we should treat non jews with the same honor that we would like to receive. just a smile can save a life...

It's been more than a year and a half since this terrible tragedy and I still can't shake away my shock about it. The memory of these poor souls and how they died continues to haunt me. How can human beings be so unimaginably cruel? I pray for little Moshe and the parents of the rabbi and rebbetzin, that they may find some measure of comfort and solace in their terrible loss.

dismayed and confused by these heinous acts of cowardliness towards all the souls that were kind and propagating the work of god. Citizens of the world need to realize there exist people who are kind and thoughtful towards other human beings. Gabi and Rivky Holtzberg we miss you all, you are now Angels... Our wish is that Moshe will grow to love mankind irrespective of any differences.
God will prevail, in any injustice.

Thank you for the update. I'm heartened to hear that at least little Moshe'le has the continuity of his nanny.
Today, may we all perform a 'special' mitzvah in thier memory.

I will never forget the event 26/11 in my life. There should not be terrorism in the world. I pray for Moshe's hapiness.

Deepest Sympathies for what happened – I am not Jewish, but feel the colossal failure of Govt to lose such benign and heroic parents of such a brave child. Going forward, hope volunteers from Jewish community travelling to India can also help in keeping a "neighborhood watch" in India’s Jewish residences, together with input from Jewish and Indian security forces so as to form a fortress against these anti-Jewish acts at micro and macro levels

Continuing from previous post, what needs to happen in India, is "circles of security"; We NOW know that Islamic terrorists are going to target Jews even in India, since they are learning more and more about global movement of people; People of even non-Hindu faiths in India, generally do not act against the State since they are well integrated into Indian society; However, the main danger is those "Islamic" fanatics OUTSIDE India who try to mingle into Indian society quickly enough, to finish their purpose of terror, and try to get out (Or not!). India and Israel HAVE to work on strengthening coastline security, border security, and rapid local commando response

Reading this article today brought back the memory of such horrible murder. I read about it in Arutz Shevat. It broke my heart to see the pictures of this wonderful family. Beautiful children. I cannot understand the hate of these criminals.
