Israel and the Battered Woman

"It takes two to make a fight. So I must deserve this -- after all, I'm not perfect either. I left dishes in the sink and didn't have dinner ready when he came home. Sometimes, I was a little confused after he beat me up and didn't function so well.."

ISRAEL AND THE BATTERED WOMAN
Best article about reality I've ever read. Mail a copy to the U.N., to the State Department, President Bush, and to each U.S. Representative, and to each U.S. Senator.

Why hasn't this been published in the New York Times yet?

Israel and the Battered Woman
No matter which country you come from, Battered Wife Syndrome DOESN'T discrimate! These women mistake abuse for love and it's NOT love!

It's perfectly understandable they're afraid of their husbands, but they need help and help IS available. They shouldn't blame themselves and shouldn't be made to blame for their husband's violent behavior.

It doesn't matter WHY their husbands are violent - it's NOT acceptable and it's against the law! If a wife kills her husband in self-defense, she shouldn't have to go to jail, because she was protecting herself - it was him or her!

Exactly Right!
This is such a brilliant and true analogy. This essay is really tremendous, and will lead to good on so many levels...thank you Dr. Adahan and Chabad.org editors!

Thank you for discussing this!
I understand that you're trying to explain the situation in Israel, but to admit that there are Jewish women in our midst who are going through this, online - thank you. We who suffer silently while the community watches - no different than world media - appreciate it.

There are plenty of abused men too
If the community is "silent" about abused women (and the Jewish Press used to have a several page section every week on abuse), then how much more so is the silence about abused men.

They may not all be "battered" by women in that sense (though some are), but men are abused in many other ways.

How about the wife who really verbally and in other ways abuses the husband or is nothing but a gold digger or manipulated by her family against the husband and then she wants a divorce then uses the male hating male bashing courts to steal everything he he ever had including his kids and his business and future income.

How about the rampant FAKE charges of abuse or child molestation which are instantly believed just because she claims he did it?

And yet the very idea made fun of and treated as if the man must always be guilty and just making up lies and excuses to get out of it.

But getting back on track it is a brilliant analogy RE Israel vs the Arabs.
