Free Trial Period

It was the commercial that first attracted me. Then there were the bonus gifts, and by the time my free-trial period was up I'd forgotten that my credit card was being billed monthly...

Thank you. The essay was great.
I enjoy writing too, and just came back from a year of study in Israel.
I am a bubbe that got a later-in-life chance at yeshiva!
I saw all these things that you wrote of, blossoming in the young women who were there with me.

Thank you very much for your very moving story. It is a reminder for me this morning, to believe in Hashem's miracles and guidance. I forget to see it at times. May G-d bless you for your effort in reaching out to the rest of us.

Very good!
This was a terrific article! I know exactly what you mean about going from the secular "no rules, no boundaries" life to becoming observant. It has been difficult becoming observant and getting my family to understand my choices, but I feel better about the choices I make now and I know whenever I need a helping hand, G-d is there for me.

What an honest, beautiful article! One of my sons chose to return to Israel for a few weeks on a group trip similar to one he was on last year with his brother. These young people are taking Torah classes every day (some of them are not presently either observant nor very spiritual) and I am sure that they will all benefit, each in their own way from its precious wisdom. Thank you for sharing your turning point in life....these personal reflections are invaluable to all of us.

your story gave me chills. I too am a junior in college in a similar situation. Youd have shed much light on me.

Wow. Someone asked me several times why I believe, and I wasn't able to answer articulately. Inside, I was thinking, if you're speaking with someone you know they exist. I couldn't tell them that - at least not convincingly. It was too personal - the conversations with G-d through my own thoughts, circumstances and teachings that arrived when I needed them. And it's an unscientific, non-rigorous response. But it's true. This is the sort of thing you put into words here. Thank you!

Why I believe
I don't believe.

I just know.

I have tried to disbelieve, and I just can't.

I've talked to Gd all my life, and always felt the love streaming down. When that happens you just know.

And I have a BS in mathematics. But this is something to know, not to prove. The proofs are all inadequate. If you don't believe, I can't prove it. But you also can't prove otherwise, because actually it's all true.

you again?
There really is no such thing as a coincidence... I just posted a comment on your "circle and line" article, gave myself a "treat" of just one more article before study and housework, clicked something that looked interesting on the sidebar--and then read about your Shavuos experience. I didn't know you were a BT! You didn't "sound' like one...I'm allowed to say that because I'm one, too.

Now, I have to stop and reconsider that all the depth and understanding that I've experienced in reading many of your Chabad.org articles, really stemmed from your Shavuos in Egypt moment. Do I have such a moment in my Baal Tshuva story? Do I ever, could I ever sound as "learned" and "spiritual" as you?

Well, this is quite a lot of food for thought on a Friday morning. Obviously, since I didn't need to cook for Shabbos this week (both meals invited out) G-d gave me some spiritual cooking to do!!

So, there's no such thing as "time off" from our service as a Jew, either.

Thanks

This is a beautiful article, and a really heartwarming story. As a junior in college, searching for ways to connect to G-d, this article touched me. I'd been angry at G-d for a couple of years, and have learned to just let go of that anger and love G-d. Its taking time, but I am searching for that free trial period and seeing where it takes me. Thank you!
