Reb Azriel David opened his eyes to the sight of the singing train. In a choked voice, he cried: "I will give half of my portion in the World to Come to whoever can take my song to the Modzitzer Rebbe!"

Two things happen--my spirit soar & my tears fall--as I listen to this in the quiet of night by my computer.

Last year on Asarah b'Tevet, my seminary took us to Yad Vashem. There, we sat down together in front of a real cattle car and our guide told us this story. Then, she turned on her tape and we all joined along singing "Ani Ma''amin" with tears streaming down our faces... Reb Azriel David- if only you knew what a powerful thing you have accmplished with this niggun... May we merit to greet Moshiach NOW!!

Thank you Rabbi Dorfman for writing this beautiful story and sharing it with the readers of Chabad.org . As I sit here on T'isha B'Av 5769, a mere 67 years after this story took place, and having just completed the Kinnos (mournful poems), I feel connected to all the Kedoshim (holy martyrs) who were murdered throughout our history including those during the Holocaust. Thank you for adding another dimension to the hauntingly beautiful niggun that I have known all my life. Singing along with it just now, has touched my soul. May we merit to sing this Ani M'amin very soon in the 3rd and final Bais Hamikdosh. Thank you again,

In May 2000 I was in Auschwitz with a group of Gerrer chasidim. We stood at the famous Death wall and sang R'Azriel Duvid Fastag's Ani Maamin. After that 2 of us said Kaddish. There was a group of Dutch students watching us. Their teacher came over to me and said, I recognized the Jewish Kaddish but what was the song you sang? Nd I related to her this story. She broke down in tears and then told the story to her students.

My girl's chorus called "Women's Select" at Bowsher High School in Toledo, OH will be singing this song at our spring concert in May of 2010. It is an arrangement by Paul Caldwell & Sean Ivory with piano & violin accompaniment.

My high school choir is singing Ani Ma'amin in our upcoming choir concert, and it is one of the most beautiful arrangements I've ever heard. The story our director told us about it brought tears to my eyes, but it has an amazing message and now everytime we sing it I think of the more than 6 million lives taken during the Holocaust.
