Passover Candle Lighting Blessings

Note: Please refer to our Holiday Calendar to determine which blessings are recited on which holiday and Shabbat nights.

1. BA-RUCH A-TAH ADO-NAI E-LO-HE-NU ME-LECH HA-OLAM ASHER KID-E-SHA-NU BE-MITZ-VO-TAV VETZI-VA-NU LE-HAD-LIK NER SHEL SHA-BBAT KO-DESH.

Blessed are You, Lord our G-d, King of the universe, who has sanctified us with His commandments, and commanded us to kindle the light of the holy Shabbat.

2. BA-RUCH A-TAH ADO-NAI E-LO-HE-NU ME-LECH HA-OLAM ASHER KID-E-SHA-NU BE-MITZ-VO-TAV VETZI-VA-NU LE-HAD-LIK NER SHEL YOM TOV.

Blessed are You, Lord our G-d, King of the universe, who has sanctified us with His commandments, and commanded us to kindle the Yom Tov light.

3. BA-RUCH A-TAH ADO-NAI E-LO-HE-NU ME-LECH HA-OLAM ASHER KID-E-SHA-NU BE-MITZ-VO-TAV VETZI-VA-NU LE-HAD-LIK NER SHEL SHA-BBAT VE-SHEL YOM TOV.

My background is limited and I can see from the site that I'm omitting many steps, but I'm growing. In particular, I came to the site wondering if I should be lighting candles for Passover. I now have my answer and the prayers. Many thanks.

Thank you for your wonderful, insightful website. I now have all the resources I need to celebrate not only Passover, but every holiday. Once again, thank-you for such an informative plethora of information. My father's yarhzeit is tomorrow and I have even been alerted not to miss that event. Once again, thank-you!
