Thank you Chabad, again you have not failed me when I needed information to celebrate as a Jew.

As I rediscover the wonder of my Jewish roots, I'm very thankful to have you to hold my hand and guide me along the way. Thanks!
Thank you so much i needed to make a skit for passover for my cousins and i but i didn't know the order thanks to you now i do xxxooo
Many thanks, I understand better the Passover festivities.
Thank you. It is very helpful for me as a Christian to look into Jewish custom - particularly in relation to Passover.
I attended a Christian passover seder and I wanted to know the authentic version
Thank you so much for this! I am Christian and my husband is Jewish, but I am very interested in in Judaism and following the traditions of his faith. I really enjoy our seders and the phonetic pronunciations on this website will be really helpful for someone like me without any training in the Hebrew language.

Thank you so much for posting this teaching. It's very helpful for me as a Christian to understand Jewish religious beliefs
I was raised in a community with a large Jewish population (probably in excess of 30%), yet I never learned of the religion itself. My daughter recently went with her friend to learn about Passover and make Matzah's. I found the pamphlet very interesting, so I went to this website.
The information presented here is well written and understandable. It gives me a new appreciation for Jewish religious beliefs.
Thank you and Shalom.

While not being an observant Jew, I often turn to Chabad for information. Thank you for a useful and friendly site.
being raised by a Jew, I guess that makes me a Jew too, I am embarrassed to say I never learned the meaning. My mom is coming this weekend with the huguduh for passover. We will have it with my young family.
I am the G-dmother of an 8 year old Jewish girl whose Mother is non practicing and whose Father is a practicing Christian Fundementalist! Resourcing your site allows me to teach my G-ddaughter her heritage while educating her parents and learning about the wonderful traditions of the Jewish religion. It has been a blessing to me, because my given name is Miriam and I was rasied a Baptist.

I very much apperciate the email you sent me. It linked to this page and is very useful.

Can anyone tell me why the murder of thousands of innocent Egyptian children is not mentioned or remembered in the Seder?
Surely a prayer would not go astray.
this a very great article ,it has helped me wel with my assignment , thank u chabad.org
Thank you for sharing how the Seder is like! To Kevin: yes, the Egyptian children were innocent. But the pharoah brought it on his own people by not listening to Moses. If the pharoah had listened, the children would not have died.
my research report is now complete! its not my religion but its very interesting to understand the holidays. Purim sounds kinda fun... go esther! (did i spell that right??)
thank you!!! the writer is fantastic.

The Egyptian dead ARE remembered at the seder. When the ten plagues are recited a drop of wine is spilled at the mention of each to remeber the Egyptian dead. this is done twice- first for each of the ten plagues (ten drops) and then at the mention of mnemonic for the plague which is three words 9another three drops spilled)

I don't understand what you mean by holiday meal. Is that like a regular dinner? Do you have a regular dinner first then perform the holiday ritual or do you finish the ritual first then then have a regular dinner or is done some time during the ritual?
The holiday meal is usually a three course affair which includes traditional foods, see this link for some examples. The meal is a part of the fifteen step Seder ritual unique to Passover. Does this clarify things for you?
When Jews drink of the four cups, do they each drink from that cup (as each is had) or do they pour a little from the cup into their own personal cups and then drink, or is it optional as to what each family does?
Each individual participant has his/her own cup from which he/she drinks. Since the cup is filled and drunk four time throughout the evening, we refer to the "four cups."
so confusing to me, some one who is considering converting , i can also see how confusing to a child this would be. so many many sybolism so ritualistic. so confusing.
Thankyou thankyou thankyou I have been with my partner for a year and have been asked by his family to attend passover of which i knew very little .He told me not to worry. I was so worried about doing the wrong thing due to my lack of knowledge.. Thankyou on enlightening me to the tradition I feal a lot more confident and will definently take the whole fruit as a gift instead of the cakes and pastries I had in mind. Your information is priceless
All I have to say is "Nava Nagila".
I may be attending my first Seder this year...if we can gather a few folks out in Death Valley to celebrate Seder amidst G_d's wonders! Am really looking forward to this very special event.

thank you for providing a straight-forward and understandable explaination of the passover meal. It helped me a lot and my family will use it next year to celebrate the passover properly.
We celebrated the passover meal this year but missed a lot of its meaning.

Dear Rabbi Berman, Many thanks for your help in preparing for the upcoming Seder at our home in honor of our friends who will be visiting from California
Diana, Passover is a story about our heritage and yes, it is full of symbolism but don't worry, the more seders you go to the easier it gets. I'm sure that everyone (or someone) at the table will be happy to explain to you the reason behind the action. And if not, just go along. It will get easier to understand. Webpages like this is a good start but you can't expect to understand everything at first. Don't be too hard on yourself. I hope that you find a meaninful experience at your seder and in Judiasm.
About Claire Jane´s comment, Dianadon´t worry. If no one knows the reason behind the act, someone will find out a new explanation for it. This is Pessach is all about, renewing our believes and sharing our jewish identity, from one generation to the next one, over and over again. Interesting, I´ve never realized before that Pessach means Pass Over. Thank you for this. Living and learning...

I enjoyed reading your traditions; My grandson father celbrates pasover and we do not. We want to repect traditions and teach our grandson both religions. I am a Christian. I believe that God has been leading me to study Judiasm. I am so gratefult that this website is available, and all are allowed to learn and partake of your traditions. I want to learn more about Judaism, so that I might pass it down to my family. Thank you again for providing a means for anyone to become knowledgeable. I begin today, my journey of learning all that I can, and the keeping of the traditions that have been set forth and given to His chosen people. With respect and humility, I offer you my thanks.
