Dear Rabbi Friedman, I was so frightened of Rosh Hashana and Jom Kippur. I thought, G-d, who loves me a whole year, turns on these days into my enemy, wants to punish me, perhaps kill me during the coming year. (Of course I would have deserved it. I kept all m y doubts and my thoughts to me. They were mine, exactly as you explained.I even was rebellious about many things.) You changed everything in your explanations. I listended to them several times. We say in German: Es ist zu schoen, um wahr zu sein! It (nearly) is too beautiful to be true. This year I am looking forward to the High Holidays. I w a n t to have a deeper relationship with Hashem, I want to love Him more. And you explained, that it is possible!!! Thank you so much!

| We call Yom Kippur the holiest day of the year. We dedicate more time than usual to our prayers on that day, attend synagogue services and fast. Yom Kippur is classically associated with repentance and becoming a new person. What people often miss is that Yom Kippur is not a day to reinvent yourself, it is a time to discover yourself.
