My fright is gone
Dear Rabbi Friedman,
I was so frightened of Rosh Hashana and Jom Kippur. I thought, G-d, who loves me a whole year, turns on these days into my enemy, wants to punish me, perhaps kill me during the coming year. (Of course I would have deserved it. I kept all m y doubts and my thoughts to me. They were mine, exactly as you explained.I even was rebellious about many things.)
You changed everything in your explanations. I listended to them several times. We say in German: Es ist zu schoen, um wahr zu sein!
It (nearly) is too beautiful to be true.
This year I am looking forward to the High Holidays. I w a n t to have a deeper relationship with Hashem, I want to love Him more. And you explained, that it is possible!!!
Thank you so much!

Yom Kippur is classically associated with repentance and becoming a new person. What people often miss is that Yom Kippur is not a day to reinvent yourself, it is a time to discover yourself.
