Demolition Doesn’t Deter Beijing’s Only Kosher Restaurant

Its former home might be slated for demolition, but Beijing’s only kosher restaurant is still serving up food for members of the Jewish community and visiting tourists, albeit from a different location.

According to Dini Freundlich, co-director of Chabad-Lubavitch of Beijing and the namesake of Dini’s Kosher Restaurant, the hoped-for hotspot of Super Bar Street apparently did not live up to municipal authorities’ plans, so they’ve ordered all businesses out.

Now, the restaurant is serving patrons from the nearby Chabad House, and Freundlich’s been assuring people that she’s on the lookout for a permanent location with enough space to seat at least 80 people.
