Days 16 & 17: Jan. 18-19, 2009

I wish I could end the story there but unfortunately I cannot. Hamas has already violated the cease-fire many times...

Blog
Amazing Blog, you should definitely write a book. Kol Hakavod to you and your unit for defending Israel. May G-d bless you with peace and happiness.

THANK YOU
Yared,
Thank you for all that you and your fellow IDF soldiers have done to protect Israel and its citizens. I know it was a lot of work and it was not easy.
I am so thankful that you are back safe and well.
You soldiers are the best, and very brave.
I really appreciate all that you have done.
My prayers were always with you all.
I pray for the IDF everyday, no matter what.

Thank you for the Blog.
If ever you want Reese's Peanut Cups, just let me know. I'll ship a lot over to you, just to say thanks and happy birthday.
Sincerely,

final post?
Mazel tov on your birthday! ..until 120! and Mazel tov on your final post! You have no idea how much your blog affected all of us chabad.org readers. G-d should bless you with many opportunities to use your writing skills, and none of them should involve war...but I do think that it would make such an interesting little book, if you were to publish all the posts to this blog (with the comments, as well--there were a couple of interesting little sub-plots going on there) If that's really popular, then you can go ahead with the cookbook theme--now that's a sequel that's relatively safe...
All the best to you, and thanks again!

Thanks
I really enjoyed reading your blog, your style of writing made it feel so real with all the tension involved in war, yet you somehow were able to add a bit of humor in it as well.
Good luck with everything and thanks again for all that you and all your fellow soldiers did for us.

Excellent writing!
This was educational... I did not know that Hamas suddenly shifted to civilian status once they tossed the grenade. How the media is misled!

You are an excellent writer. The viewpoint from the trenches is something we cannot access in the mainstream media. You can weave these stories into a novel...

The Real Story
Thank you Mr.Ben-Caro for the best reporting out of the Gaza War that has been available. I have watched and prayed and not known what was happening, even after it was over, and now you have told a very important story which I hope will reach many people. The G-d of Israel continue to bless you and your comrades. From an American supporter and watcher.

to a hero
Yared, I have followed your blog alongside the vitriolic anti-Israeli sentiment around us here in the UK. Every time I encounter anti-Semitism now I bring to mind the honour and heroism of you and your fellows, to whom I would like to say "thank you for a war fought and won, for the efforts you all made to secure freedom for the people of Israel and Jews around the world".
Your simple, quiet courage is a lesson to us and our children; I can only hope that in the future it can be put to peaceful use and wise application, as is the spirit of the State of Israel.
With love from all my family.

Yes, I know all about war. I joined the 85th Air Borne and we were sent to Korea, I was 19 years of age. We called Korea the world's biggest "out-house." The 85th push northward and to the Chosen Reservoir. We were out numbered at least 50 to 1 and we had 85 percent battle casualties. 85 was a bad number for us, but we were absorbed into the 101st Air Borne. Upon our return to the United States, we learned we were the forgotten, and people remarked our being stupid, as well to deserve what happened to us. The 23 months I spent in Korea meant nothing to so many people in the United States, but at least the South Koreans were thankful for our being there. I cried about the manner so many of us were treated, because I know we had done our very best, and for that I am proud. Shalom!

THANK YOU
thank you for putting your life at risk
thank you for having and keeping such strong healthy values when you have every excuse to dump them
thank you for taking the time to share the miracles
thank you for sharing the stories of self sacrifice around you. G_d bless you and may we soon see peace and prosperity for all as the redemption promises.
please ensure that this blog gets as much coverage as possible - Jews and non-Jews seldom hear this angle.
G_d bless you and may we soon see peace and prosperity for all as the blessing promises.

peanuts
North America has a peanut scare- products have been made with salmonella-infected peanuts. So, Israel probably screens peanut products out, temporarily.
Best idea is not to tell the world your foods preference, when mail and produce transport can be interrupted.

Cocoa Puff?
So I don't get it. You just got back from a war and this girl was all crying and everything. And then she ate all your peanut butter cups? Is she for real? I'm sorry to tell you but I think this girl is just using you. I mean, you have the guts to face Hamas but you don't have the guts to stand up to a girl? Come on, dude. You need to lose her.
