Withdrawal from Gaza
Day 15: Jan. 17, 2009

I thought about all the people I had killed. I thought about all the people that had been trying to kill me. Had it all been for nothing? It felt like failure. It felt like betrayal.

Very Informative and Inciteful Blog
I appreciate your blog Yared, it has been most informative and insightful. Your blog is extremely well written and able to bring the reader right into the midst of what you have experienced. I find the information you have shared about your experiences helpful when praying for IDF and American military forces. I pray that Israel will not have to go into Gaza in the future as Hamas will be better prepared for the IDF then. I am sure they will make some adjustments in their battle tactics, so I hope the IDF will make their own adjustments in the areas where they could've performed better as well, in case you have to reenter Gaza. Admittedly, some of your comments give me cause for some anxiety still, as there seems to be room for some strategic improvement on the part of the IDF. But for political reasons it is probably best the operation ceased when it did. From a military view, maybe it was not best. From G-d's view, it remains to be known. I am just glad you are safely back.

Interesting!
First, I want to say that I really appreciate Chabad making these posts from Yared available for all of us to read. That helped me to feel, express, and send support for what the IDF was doing, even though I am not in Israel.

Secondly, I find it very interesting that Yared writes of an assault from the beach. I did not know that they had done this. Last week (or the week before?), I had a dream in which I was a soldier storming the beach at Normandy on D-Day. There is more to the dream that I hesitate to say (it was good though violent), but it makes sense to me in an odd sort of way that the IDF was literally storming a beach.

May their results continue to be the results that I had in the dream. As Yared said, no one could stand against them.... Hopefully the fighting will stop for a while, but if and when fighting is required, may they be successful every time.

Feeling the same
Yes, I feel the same way as you do about stopping when the going is so good and successful. And the Israelis are constantly doing that. If they would just keep going many lives would be saved and they wouldn't have to keep fighting. Why don't they learn from past experience!!??

I keep checking every day for the next entry. Thank you so much for sharing and in such an interesting way. May G-d keep you safe and bring peace.
