Rabbi Tells of Power of Lag B’Omer

Chabad-Lubavitch Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Lipkin of Kfar Saba, Israel, was a special guest on the Wednesday morning installment of Channel Ten’s “Kol Haboker.”

Lipkin addressed the holiday of Lag B’Omer, the anniversary of the passing of the 2nd century sage and mystic, Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai.

Known as the Rashbi and viewed by Jewish tradition as the author of the Zohar, Bar Yochai is buried in the northern Galilee town of Meron.

Some 100,000 people are expected at his gravesite this Lag B’Omer, which began Thursday night.

Lipkin said that while most of his time on Lag B’Omer is spent at his community’s traditional children’s parade, he still makes it to Meron every year.

“When I take part in the celebrations for the Rashbi,” he said, “it gives me strength for the entire year.” …
