Members of Wisconsin’s Jewish community delivered school supplies to shell-shocked first graders in the Israeli desert town of Sderot.
Rabbi Dovid Rapoport of the Peltz Center for Jewish Life in Mequon led a delegation of community members to Sderot, whose visit was arranged by Rabbis Zeev Pizem of Chabad-Lubavitch of Sderot and Menachem Kutner of the Chabad Terror Victims Project. Mequon residents Ron and Pamela Kohlenberg initiated the gift of backpacks filled with school supplies, which they hope to renew on an annual basis.
The day before the visit, Sderot citizens awoke once again to an exploding rocket fired from the Gaza Strip by Palestinian terrorists.
