But the part where you say he seemed perfectly normal bothers me.

This was a bit of a scary story, Roving Rabbi. I suppose it could put some things into perspective, but I'm not sure what. There is something in Pirkei Avos that cautions us to consider a "minor" sin no different than a "major" sin. Is this what that mishneh is talking about?

Atleast, when we thank G-d for our health (and we should be doing that on almost a constant basis) we should be sure to include "mental health."
