School Singles Out Dallas Emissaries for Honor
Akiba Academy, a Jewish community day school in North Texas, will honor Rabbi Mendel and Baila Dubrawsky, co-directors of Chabad-Lubavitch of Dallas, at its Black and White Galas and Auction next month.
“Rabbi Mendel’s and Baila’s commitment to Akiba and their leadership in Jewish educational programs are longstanding,” the school said in a statement. “The Dubrawskys have been supporters of Akiba as parents, grandparents and volunteers.”
The Dubrawskys arrived in Dallas as Chabad-Lubavitch emissaries in 1984. Since then, Chabad Houses have opened across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex; a new center is due to open soon in the suburb of Arlington. …
Australian Students Tested
Students of the Semicha Institute at Sydney, Australia’s Yeshiva Centre were tested this week on the laws of forbidden mixtures by Rabbi Yitzchok Yehuda Yeruslovsky, head of the Chabad-Lubavitch rabbinical court in Israel.
Following the test, the visiting rabbi saluted the accomplishment of the students in remarks to Rabbi Yosef Yitzchok Feldman, rabbinic administrator of the Yeshiva Centre, and the center’s dean, Rabbi Pinchus Feldman. …
Brest Jewish Kindergarten Grows
The students of the Ohr Avner Chabad Kindergarten in Brest, Belarus, got a sneak peak of their school’s new facility during a mid-summer tour.
Joined by their parents and siblings, the children checked out the new spacious building, furniture and toy collection.
According to Chabad-Lubavitch Rabbi Chaim Rabinowitz, the city’s chief rabbi, the move, which comes three years after the founding of the school, followed a surge in involvement in Jewish communal activities.
The Jewish community of Brest is a member of the Federation of Jewish Communities of the Former Soviet Union. …
